Abstract
Episodic memories undergo a process of consolidation by which they slowly become independent of the hippocampus. It is not known precisely how this occurs, but it is thought that it may be via a transfer of information from hippocampus to cortex during slow-wave sleep. I will discuss this process from a computational perspective. As a starting point, I will present the analysis of a simple model which captures some important features of both memory storage, and a transfer process.
