BFNT member Niels Birbaumer receives Helmholtz Medal

28.06.2010: The Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities honors Niels Birbaumer with one of its highest awards. For his scientific achievements in the field of biological psychology, particularly also for his research on the plasticity of the human brain, the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities awards Niels Birbaumer with the Helmholtz Medal.

Niels Birbaumer

Niels Birbaumer (member of the Bernstein Focus: Neurotechnology Freiburg-Tübingen) is Director of the Institute for Medical Psychology and Behavioral Neurobiology at the Medical Faculty of the Eberhard Karls University Tübingen, where he also heads  the Center for Magnetoencephalography (MEG).

With the Helmholtz Medal, the Academy honors outstanding lifetime achievements in the fields of the humanities, social sciences, mathematics, and natural sciences, biology, medicine, and engineering. The medal can be awarded every second year.
